Ariela Mazoz is a geoscientist with a focus on the study and development of reference materials like Vermillion and Bear Lake Titanite, which are essential standards in geochemical analysis, particularly for U-Pb dating and trace element measurements. She completed her PhD from the University of Brasilia. Her research was focused on the applications of her reference materials to titanites and monazites from the Limpopo Belt, a geologically complex region known for its ancient high-grade metamorphic rocks in southern Africa. Her PhD work contributed to a deeper understanding of the tectonometamorphic history of this region.

Currently, Ariela is engaged in a postdoctoral project at Stellenbosch University studying the Cape Granites, which are significant for understanding the geological evolution of the southwestern part of South Africa. Her postdoc research aims to shed light on the magmatic processes and tectonic setting of these granites, which play a key role in reconstructing the history of the Cape Fold Belt. Her work helps bridge the gap between past geological events and their implications for the region’s development over time.
